I hear that the flu vaccine is a good match this year. I also hear that the Covid vaccine is not. I intend to get the flu and the RSV vaccine because over the years when I get even a “normal“ cold, my lungs try to shut down and I don’t need that. I may think twice about the Covid shot later. I’ve had four shots so far for Covid and this would be number five. I’ve already had my pneumonia shot three times as well.
While I think vaccinations may cause some problems with the very young, IMHO that’s because they give too many at a time. If the shots were to be more spaced out they would likely be more acceptable to their tiny bodies. Vaccinations have saved countless lives., and prevented untold casualties (I had a sister that contracted polio at six months. Does anyone in America get polio much anymore?). I just wish they’d develop a vaccine for PD!

I keep all my vaccines updated, especially since I had my battle with Cancer and was diagnosed with Parkinson's.
I've had my Pneumonia, RSV, Shingles, whooping cough, both covid and two covid booster shots, tdap, hepatitis A & B, updated flu shots every year, etc..
I'm immune system is weaker due to advanced age and health, so I take no chances and get vaccinated fir everything.
The vaccines don't always keep you from getting the associated virus, but they make you get a milder case and get over it faster.
I'm on my third battle with Covid, but I truely believe that I've lived through them because I was vaccinated.
I lost eleven family and friends to Covid-19. All of them were unvaccinated when they died. I don't know of any of my family or friends that died from covid after being vaccinated.
Same with Pneumonia, flu and various others, just get the vaccines, they help your body build antibodies to fight off the viral issues.

I wasn't aware of an RSV vaccine so this thread is helpful. I'll have to look into it. The vaccines I've seen promoted are for covid and flu, and I've had both with no adverse reactions with my PD. Because we're all different with our symptoms, meds, etc you may consider talking with your doctor to be on the safe side.

Hi Judy, there is little to no research info on RSV and PD. On the NIH website, it is implied that RSV impacts the respiratory system and folks with PD sometimes have respiratory issues but did not indicate a clear connection between the two. My neuro recommended I get it so I did and had no problem.
Hope you get info that helps you make the best decision for you,
Maria
