Y Husband's Always Lying Down In Btween Doing A Few Things. He Complains About His Back.

My husband seems to be lying down more and more. He complains about his back all the time. He has been diagnosed with arthritis in his back and some other issues. He has also be told the moving, walking and exercise is the only thing that will really help. He does a bit but then starts complaining again. I'm frustrated and he's frustrated with me! Any answers?

I don’t really have a n answer for you. All I can say is, my back hurts a lot. I mean a lot. I have to do the same thing. I do a few things and then have to sit or lie down for a while. I’m not used to that. I’m 55 years old and have always been a very active person. I was diagnosed with PD in 2020. I am just not used to doing things in short bursts. I used to be able to be on the move all day long. My back pain comes from all the muscle rigidity. Some days my back hurts so bad that I barely move all day. On those days the heating pad and Motrin are my best friends.
I don’t know if any of that is of any help to you or not. Just thought I’d share what I am experiencing.

I have a lot of back pain too and find that I can manage my day best and achieve the most by doing some things and then resting (sitting or lying down) and then getting up and doing more and having another rest. The trap is not sitting or lying down for too long. I am 55 and was diagnosed in 2017. I fell off a horse when I was 18 and injured my lower back which is something that I learned to manage over the years and so I only recently started to associate this increased level of pain with PD. None of my old tricks and techniques for management of my lower back problems seem to work any more. Sorry that this post probably won’t help you or your husband, I wish that I had answers to share. It has gotten worse with the PD and I know that walking, movement and exercise will help but overcoming the apathy (and potentially depression?) associated with PD makes this so very difficult. Open to any suggestions. Thank you.
