Can DBS Be Done Without MRI

Since having spinal surgery in 1989 I've been advised not to use MRI procedures. This is compelled by the understanding that the surgical wire used to stabilize my spine during fusion was conductive.

After a Parkinson's diagnosis in 2017 my symtoms have progressed to the point I'm now considering DBS to reduce my symptoms and/or reduce my medication requirements.

My initial investigation seems to indicate that both CAT scan and MRI imaging are integral to the DBS's success.

Persnally, I wouldn't allow someone to drill a hole in my head and implant electrodes deep into my brain without them. I'd prefer no guess-work in that area.
Your also aware answering questions and performing small task during the entire procedure.
Sometimes previous medical conditions prevent us from taking advantage of other procedures.
Your Neurologist and Neurosurgeon are your best resource for an answer to this question.
