My husband was diagnosed in 2923. Any Parkinson's meds he has tried have caused severe side effects and hospitalization so he is currently on none

I have a different experience with meds for Parkinson's. There is a standard treatment which is levadopa (True it does not make you better or cure you) and was first used in 1967. (Yes you read that correct, no new front line medications for over 50 years... incredable but true). Sinemet (levadopa) does not wear off over time you may need more of it. Levadopa is effective for 48 of the 59 known forms of Parkinson. BUT Parkinsonisms do NOT respond to medication (especially levadopa). Indeed the most effective treatmeent is excercise. Parkisonisms are more common than Parkinson (Shaking hand syndrome is the most common). Parkinsonisms mimic Parkinson but do not have a loss of Dopemine as the cause. There are many forms of Parkinsonisms. We treat the condition at our centre

There are a couple of articles in the Resources section on Parkinsonism that describe some of the different diseases that resemble Parkinson's but aren't. https://www.myparkinsonsteam.com/resources/type...
