My husband with PD takes Miralax once a day, every day, and also Milk of Magnesia (🤢!) when the Miralax alone isn't doing the job. I also occasionally give him a stool softener once a day.

I drink an herbal tea called Smooth Move. You can get it at Walmart and some grocery stores. I drink it at night & it usually ‘works’ by morning.

To manage constipation and hard stools in Parkinson's disease, consider the following tips from the knowledge base:

- Dietary Fiber: Eat plenty of high-fiber foods such as vegetables, dried or fresh fruits with peels, legumes (peas or beans), some nuts (almonds, pistachios), and whole-grain products. Switching from white bread to whole-grain, white rice to brown rice, and regular pasta to whole-grain pasta can also help.
- Hydration: Drink six to eight eight-ounce glasses of water daily.
- Warm Beverages: Drinking warm beverages in the morning can help stimulate bowel movements.
- Exercise: Regular physical activity can aid in digestion and bowel movements.
- Medications: In some cases, laxatives may be needed.

These strategies can help alleviate constipation and improve bowel health.
