Hello. I am newly diagnosed this year and seem to be encountering new symptoms, such as just this morning, waking dizzy with room spinning. I suspect this is the result of a drop in blood pressure (mine runs low normally). I used my common sense to gradually prop myself up on pillows and get to a safe, seated position on the bed. Hi. My blood pressure is normally low too so doc put me on Midodrine to raise my pressure. This counter balances the pd meds and I don't get so dizzy or tired. Talk to your doc. πŸ™‚

I am dizzy all the time. It started after a trip to the Galapagos where I had "sea legs" and never lost them. I don't have very low blood pressure and it's a challenge trying to cope with my balance along with everything else it's only when I am standing upright, not when I sit.

Dizziness and balance issues are common in people with Parkinson's disease and can be caused by medications or other factors. Here are some experiences and recommendations based on the knowledge base:

Experiences:
- Medication Side Effects: Some people experience dizziness from medications like carbidopa/levodopa. One member mentioned, β€œI am dizzy from the meds. Does anyone else have problems with the carbidopa/levodopa?”
- Positional Dizziness: Dizziness can occur when changing positions, such as standing up from sitting or lying down. One member shared, β€œIt happens when I’m sitting or lying down β€” when I get up to stand, the dizzy spells happen. I have to stand still and hold on to something for a few minutes before they go away.”

Recommendations:
1. Consult Your Doctor:
- Always talk to your doctor about your dizziness. They can assess your medications, dosages, and side effects.
- Never stop taking your medication without the advice of your healthcare provider.

2. Home Safety:
- Ensure your home is adapted to meet your mobility needs. Avoid moving furniture around as it can pose a fall risk.

3. Exercise Programs:
- Engage in exercise and physical activity programs to improve balance and gait. Consult your healthcare provider for appropriate exercise prescriptions and safety precautions.

4. Immediate Actions:
- If you feel dizzy, stop what you are doing and hold on to something stable until the dizziness passes.

By following these recommendations, you can help manage dizziness and reduce the risk of falls. Always keep your healthcare provider informed about your symptoms for personalized advice.

Sorry to hear that Deb, but it does give me some perspective on what some of us experience. I increased salt today and fluids thinking maybe heat is affecting although I do stay in AC mostly.
