Tardive Dyskinesia?
I've been on psych meds since the early 80s. How do I know if I have tardive dyskinesia? Or if these meds caused the onset of Parkinson's?
🦉???
Ask your doctor
I Googled it & found - "Tardive dyskinesia causes repetitive, involuntary movements, such as grimacing, eye blinking, involuntary movements, lip smacking, or repetitive movements" Some of the drugs that can cause TD are- Chlorpromazine (Thorazine)
Fluphenazine (Prolixin)
Haloperidol (Haldol)
Thioridazine (Mellaril)
Trifluoperazine (Stelazine), & yes, they can cause Parkinsonism.
Hi DavidB,
Wish I could help you with that one but I cannot. So I do hope others that have the same kind of thing can answer your question for you. Hope you had a good day. Take care, BFN!❤️🤗😊
Thorazine is the place to start then; however, you don’t necessarily develop TD having taken Thorazine, and there is no cure, or a treatment, and just an aside, if you have symptoms of Tardive Dyskinesia it’s usually called that, or else called drug-induced parkinsonism but not Parkinson Disease. For your sake I hope it’s not TD; I might have to drive out there and give you a real hug, not an emoji hug.
What Has Helped Anyone With Dyskinesia?
Who Has Been Using Sinemet (carbodopa/levodopa) For More Than Five Years? Dyskinesias? Please Mention Dose And Other Pd Meds.
I Have Been Reading That Too Much Levodopa Can Lead To Dyskinesia? Is Dyskenisia The Same As Tremors?
