How To Help My Husband With His Symptoms

My husband has had Parkinson’s for seven years. The last two have progressed rapidly to Advanced Parkinson’s. He has tremors that rarely cease, incontinence, neuropathy,and feelings of depression, inadequacy (missing his old happy self) and swallowing issues. Anyone else suffering and any advice?

As the caregiver of my husband it is so hard to see your soulmate decline from this mean disease. Luckily, Bob doesn't have the tremors, but his balance is really bad. He has frequent falls, and is extremely depressed. It's hard to get him out, but I know how important it is to try to stay active. There are so many opportunities for help out there, you have to keep digging until you find what you need. Lots of "jumping through hoops " with insurance companies. Patience is key for me. We take things one day at a time. Don't look forward, don't look back. My parkinsons team is my sanity.

My husband has been diagnosed abou.t 5 years. His hand tremors are better but has now begun to have head bobbing or bouncing. He also has incontinence which is made worse by having to take diuretics because of heart failure. Is on a medication from urologist that helps some. He gets aggravated because he cannot do what he used to but I have no trouble getting him out of the house. We will see neuro the end of the month and hope to discuss meds at that time. The only advice I have is to have patience and give him hugs often.

When having a bad day, instead of giving up on your exercise routine altogether, try to incorporate a basic 10-minute mobility routine. This not only helps maintain consistency but also boosts energy and mood, which can significantly contribute to achieving fitness goals over time. Personally, this concept has helped me a lot.

My husband does not have diabetes. Take’s gabapentin 100mg three times a day. Trouble swallowing to get his pills down, feels like they get stuck. Seems like our neurologist doesn’t really have any helpies. We’ve tried the neuro patch for off times, helped for a lil while. Then d/c’d and now started inbrija inhaler. So we’ll see.
