How was the surgery. Recovery time etc

My husband had the DBS surgery 10 years ago and it really helped him tremendously. His energy level increased and his "off" times diminished measurably. No headaches. Balance and walking greatly improved. He just had his batteries swapped out (usually every 3 years - patient specific) Now that my husband is in his Advanced Stage of PD, I can only believe that if would be worse had he not had the DBS.
