Abbott Deep Brain Stimulation Device

A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭
Highland, NY

Does anyone else use the Abbott brand Deep Brain Stimulation device, and, if so, how often have you had to change the battery? I was originally told the battery would last 5 to 6 years but had to change it after just 3 1/2 years. Not thrilled about the thought of having to change the battery so often.

I do, I just had it done Summer 2022 so I haven't had to change the batteries yet. It's my understanding though that the batteries wear down faster depending how high the generator(s) is set. Mine are relatively low right now. Talk to your Abbott rep about adjustments and also about progress on/option for the rechargeable ones.
