How Does Parkinson Affect Your Heart If You Have A Heart Issue?
I have a leaky heart valve. I had a mild heart attack the end of July. They don’t think it was the leaky valve. Not sure what it was even tho I have high cholesterol. The a week later I had what appeared something w/my heart. Went to the hospital, but it wasn’t my heart. They don’t know what it was.
It is very difficult to know without having more information. PD basically affects everything by compromising the ANS as Jud said. It is basically a game of chess. You make a move, then PD makes a move. It is never fun but it is always challenge.
Hi Jud.
Thanks for your response. I actually have high blood pressure, never low and getting higher. I will call my doctor next week regarding a higher dose. I have never had it too low. He was concerned I might if I had a higher dose, but it has been high for about 2 months. He knows I have added a little more at night mostly. It is always high in the morn and lately by dinner time. They upped my cholesterol from 10 to 40 mg. I only weigh 93, and am not a big eater, but I am having a hard time controlling it and I guess PD is the cause.
Thanks again for the response. I appreciate it.

Pd meds can affect blood pressure
With the pain of my tremors my BP just goes crazy, but once my back muscles relax I can handle it. Even though it is not legal in my state the only thing I find that helps with pain is weed. If my muscles get so tight in my lower back it makes back labor with a baby look easy. It has actually so bad that I had to go to the hospital for pain relief. I do not take prescription medication such as morphine, Lortab, fentynal or any other type of pain medication they no longer work on me. I rarely go to the ER for pain because I do not like being referred to as a drug seeker, it you have PD then you have all the crap that comes with it.
Josette, I have high blood pressure they have upped my meds and still too high so now I wear a patch and it has taken the pressure down. I have never had low blood pressure, but I know you have to be careful and check yourself often. I have been taking my blood pressure morn and night for a long time. I was having energy issues but have been better lately. Not sure why.
I read an article on the Parkinson news this week, that stress can cause Parkinson to get worse. It was a good article. I set it to my kids, as they don’t seem to understand I am not well. The are in their 60’s, and think I sound fine, but my daughter sees my walking is not what it was. Drinking lots of fluids is very important. Two years ago I found out I was in Stage 3 kidney disease. I was shocked. It was because I was not drinking enough water. You can get out of Stage 3 if you start increasing fluids. So I am doing that, but checked every 6 months by a kidney doctor. As we age, our memory doesn’t always work as well, so he wants to make sure I am drinking my fluids.
I have high cholesterol so they upped that. Funny, I have been petite all my life. Never over weight. I think that and my heart are passed down from my dad.
I recently was put on a low dose of anxiety meds. I was told by my Parkinson doctor my anxiety was a bit too high. I am not sure it is helping.
If you feel depressed tell you Parkinson doctor, as it is common with this disease.
