Blood Pressure
I was checked by my dr and my blood pressure drops 20 points when I stand up and I get dizzy it was something that started with an o but he said it was normal for Parkinson does anyone else experience this
Hi Les
Nurse told me that BP normally drops when standing from sitting but should go up again. I suffer from low BP and got out of bed too fast once and ended up on the floor. So just take your time and move when you feel ready. No need to apologise to anyone.
Yes, I experience lightheadedness upon standing. I try to focus on a spot on the wall before standing. Wait five to ten seconds before starting to walk. Seems to help. Frustrating side effect.
My husband's blood pressure is frequently very low. It goes up and down throughout the day, and he does experience times of lightheadedness. His doctor says this is very typical of PD patients but we should take precautions to prevent falls.
Yes this is common among us
In my case I used to have rather high pressure so parkinson was useful 😀
The risk lies in fainting and falling but once you get used to symptoms you can handle it
But how long does your BP remain low after standing? Typically it'll return to normal once you're up and moving around. I blacked out once and tried to move a wall with my shoulder before my wife caught me. BP meds were cut in half for some time. Back to the usual dosage now and am just more aware every time I rise that I'm probably going to experience lightheadedness briefly.
