Is Age A Factor For Receiving A Trial Drug For PD?
I am a 76 year old male with stage 1 PD. My medication is the Neuropro transdermal patch. My neurologist mentioned very interesting results with experimental trials using stem cells.
when I asked how I can be in these trials, and willing to sign any waiver, the response was that I am too old to be in the trials.
Are these trials or even access to trial drugs restricted due to age?????
Yes, age can be a factor for receiving a trial drug for Parkinson's Disease (PD). Clinical trials may consider specifics of your condition, such as your diagnosis, treatment history, and other health conditions, as well as details like your age or gender when determining eligibility. I know some cancer treatments are limited for older patients, perhaps because they are very expensive and the lifespan isn't likely to be as long or maybe because older patients don't respond as well to various treatments because their systems slow down. I don't know about PD trials.
You can try this. It’s not a drug. It’s a vitamin that’s being used to great effect in Italy and the UK.
