What DBS Battery Would Anyone That Has One Recommend?

A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭
Tampa, FL

I have a regular battery now which I was told would last 3-5 years. I am on year two now and it is almost dead. It needs to be replaced. For those of you who have a rechargeable, how do you like it? Any problems? How much time do you have to take to recharge, every day, every week? And what if you go out and dont know if you need to recharge. Did you ever run out of battery? Are you always checking to see if you are fully recharged before you leave the house? Bean

A friend of mine says that the rechargeable is the way to go. Simply develop a daily routine for about half an hour and you're in!

I had my surgery in May 2021 my neurosurgeon and team picked the Boston Scientific Vercise Genus with directional leads and rechargeable battery for me. I have cervical dystonia with parkinsonism(tremors) which are now shut off courtesy of DBS. 💙 I charge once a week.

bean
I usually charge up every day it take between 10 and 30 mins depending on what I have done. I have not used it until it runs down I can not judge how much it has discharged there is no indicated I have gone two days with out charging up with no problems but my charger is fully charged I
Hope that is useful bean this is the charger device and it has a docking port I think the green battery on the charger just lets you know it is fully charged I suppose the longer it charges and the battery will decharges and the green steps will disappear you could tell How much you have used it could take much longer to charge up if that makes sense it will be trail and error Hope you find one that suites do you have to pay for the device and any replacement parts ??

By the way, Bean,
I did LOTS of research on the different devices before even considering DBS. When my neurosurgeon was consulting with me before surgery, I told him exactly what I wanted. Thankfully Vanderbilt medical center uses all the devices, so I was able to get the Boston Scientific.
Do some research to see which battery can replace yours.
