Dizziness

Are you having dizziness, or light headedness? There is a difference. Dizziness is when things seem to spin; lightheaded is the feeling you might faint. Dizziness is usually inner ear, whereas lightheaded can be low blood pressure, specifically neuro orthostatic hypotension, which is often found with PD, especially if you take levodopa. It often hits when you first stand up, or when you are on your feet for long periods of times. There are medications your doctor can prescribe, but your doctor must diagnose it first. It is a problem for me but medication does a good job.
As for the nausea, it could be meds, or several other PD related things, but it can go with low blood pressure. Your doctor needs to evaluate it, because actually both symptoms can be associated with so many problems, some of which are easy to treat, some not so easy. Either way, only your doctor can say for sure. Just don't allow yourself to be overwhelmed with worry; these symptoms are so common it may well end up being fairly simple to treat.

Yes! Each day after my husband takes his carbadopa/levodopa, he gets dizziness and has to rest in his recliner until it gets better. He almost never feels really good.
It is hard. Most of the time he copes, but sometimes it feels as if he just does not like me. I guess it is some depression. I do try hard to do all I can to make life easier for him.
I guess it is the staying at home because of the Covid19, too. It is a difficult time for all of us.
When I am working outside in the yard, that is the most helpful.-Much love Sherwon and Leon
When I started having lightheadedness when getting up during the night and in the morning my doctor explained that it was due to my blood pressure decreasing during resting and sleeping. This is a natural occurrence and is normal, but becomes more evident as we age. You can also have lightheadedness when you get up out of a chair too quickly which you can think is dizziness but is actually the cause of low blood pressure. Low BP, of course, can be a medical condition on its own or could be caused by your PD meds, so you need to get this checked out by your doctor.
In my case, I did not have a PB condition and my doctor told me to take a small amount of natural organic sea salt (not normal white table salt) with my evening meal, as this would help in keeping the blood pressure more even during the night. I have found this has mostly worked for me. I still though, make sure I sit on the edge of the bed for a few seconds to allow the blood flow to readjust before standing.
My cardiologist also recommended taking your blood pressure while standing.
Try monitoring your blood pressure. As you may have orthostatic hypotension (I have it). It's low BP, which can happen from the C/L meds. My cardiologist prescribes a med which helps. Also drink lots of water & use a little more salt & keep a journal of your BP, so you can show to your doctor. As far as nausea with C/L, my MDS also prescribes plain carbidopa to take in addition to C/L & I have no nausea.
Does Anyone Experience Dizziness?
After Being On Carbidopa Levodopa For 3 Months, 1/2 Tablet 3 Times A Day. I've Been Experiencing Daily Dizziness, Is This Common?
Is It Normal To Feel Really Dizzy Even Though You're Vitals Are Within Normal Ranges?
