Has Anyone Had An Inconclusive DaTScan?

Anaheim, CA

My DaTScan was inconclusive. I have many symptoms of PD minus tremors. The PA and neurologist say I have Chorea movements. They have been unable to provide a diagnosis. Any ideas?

I Appreciate your comments and I think you’re right. I tend to do whatever the dr says. I’m getting better at asking questions. Thanks for writing.

Yes @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member my DAT scan was inconclusive but I had many of the other non visible symptoms. Slight tremors and loss of balance were visible in left hand and side. Non visible symptoms included stiffness and rigidity in all joints, chronic fatigue and depression, bladder issues, and acute sensitivity to temperatures especially the heat. Slowness of movement, but no cognitive issues. First I was told yes, I,had PD, then I was told no uncertain, third consultation this neurologist changed all my medications and I found it very hard, then next visit he reversed them and suggested I should not be driving as he felt my reactions were too slow. I disagreed with him so I went and had a full driving assessment and got an excellent report. I did this because I would not want to place others in danger by driving if I could avoid it. I was very confused for a while.

Yes, it is. I think my daughter is just as frustrating. I think she has been in denial since my original diagnosis in 7-2013 of parkinsonism. The DaTScan I recently had was inconclusive. When I informed her she said “That’s good. See there is nothing wrong with you. You are fine.). I feel defeated. I don’t think any of my six kids really understand.
I wish I was fine. I still carry the dx of parkinsonism. Good luck with a new neurologist. I hope you can find a movement disorder specialist.
