I am a recovering alcoholic. I have been sober for 35 years now.

Hi Page,
I can only imagine how dealing with both diseases simultaneously must wear on you both. There are drugs that help a person lessen the dependence on substances. My husband's neurologist prescribed Gabapentin to help lessen the neurological pain, but also to help my husband stop the need for the tramadol(an opiod) he was using for pain relief.
It might be worth a conversation to ask your neurologist to see if there is a way to help your husband wean off alcohol. God bless you, Jeannine

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, my daughter has a spouse who is an alcoholic. I have learned to be wary around him because if he staggers into me I end up on the floor/ground. He is unable to help me in so many ways, though he tries when he can.
