My doctor told me that the loss of taste is a result of loss of smelll. She said something like 80 present of taste is smell. I lost my sense of smell but for some reason that I can’t explain, it came back! My Dr . Said she had seen that happen, but couldn’t explain it either. I’m just thankful that I can cook again!! So is my wife !!!

Loss of smell causes loss of taste, like when you have a bad cold cold you can't taste food very well. It is sometimes an early warning symptom of PD, but can happen at any point. I am losing mine I noticed recently, and food doesn't quite taste as good.

Taste is still OK, but my smell is going away. I noticed this last year, because I was using lots of aftershave and my wife was jokingly commenting on how easy it was to track me down! Of course this is better than a smelly husband...
