I want to add that my Dr. at MSU believes that for some people rasagilline delays the progression of Parkinson's. However there are side effects that you may want to consider. For instance before you would be able to have a surgery you would need to stop the medication. for 2 weeks prior. I believe there are other medications that should not be used together with rasagiline. Some anti depression and cold medicines are other examples. Be sure your Dr. knows all your medicines you currently take.Include over the counter as well as prescription drugs. I hope this is helpful.

Hi Jellie I have taken rasagiline. Rasagiline is the generic form of azilect. I have taken both. This was the first medication I was prescribed and I took it alone for the first year. After the first year I was prescribed sinemet in conjunction with azelect. . I believe it reduces the breakdown of dopamine in the brain. More dopamine alleviates the pd symptoms. Yes I did feel it helped me when I was taking it. I do not take it now because after about 4 years or so I developed dyskinesias. Dr thought my medication was too strong and he removed rasagiline There is a lot of info about this medication and I suggest you read about it before you take it.

To find it cheaper you have to look outside. The Dr. took my husband off of Rasagaline for about a week because of it's interference with tramadol for his pain. They do not work well together. She put him back on it because his tremors got worse and had to stop the tramadol.. You are right that the generic of Azilect, Rasagaline, costs just as much.
