Is Anyone Struggling With Lack Of Appetite?
I don't know if the meds cause this or if it's the Parkinson's itself, but I have ZERO appetite. I'm only eating because if I don't take my pills with a meal, I get really sick. I was just diagnosed in March, and I've lost 8lbs--which is a concern because I'm a tiny person to start with. I've been exercising a lot--which I thought might kickstart my appetite, but no success. Any suggestions?
You might try drinking protein shakes to keep up you levels of vitamins and stabilze your weight loss.
Thanks, Dianne-- Yes, I would think that the Sinemet is definitely part of the problem. I will bring it up with my Dr. again. I feel like I have no joy in eating-- and I used to REALLY like food. Even things I used to love-- like coffee, just don't taste right anymore.
I only wish I had the problem of no appetite ! The pill also made me sick, beginning with a fourth of a pill, it took 6 mos to make it to a whole pill! Now it doesn't matter how or when I take them! As for travel, I have no desire to go anywhere. Been there , done that!
Dad likes his ice cream the best .Its ok to eat what still tastes good.It makes you happy too! Dad can't swallow well either.It is hard to feed him sometimes.He likes Boost and it still gives him all the protein and vitamins.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member and Diane I lost my sense of smell along time ago. I knew something was wrong when I couldn't taste food items. I don't get excited when folks say let's go out to eat anymore. ☹️
