Anyone Using Duopa?
Duopa is rx med used for the treatment of motor fluctuations in Park's disease. Duopa contains 2 meds: carbidopa & levodopa. Duopa is not a pill. it is a suspension form of carbidopa & levodopa. Duopa is delivered continuously by a punp through a tube into your intestine for up tp 16 hours. (it is a small tube implanted right above your belly button (requires no stitches, very little pain)--which can be removed if you change your mind) The pump is disconnected every night and every morning you add a new cassette containing the duopa meds. i wear my pump in fanny packs that i found on the internet--i have lots of styles and colors. Duopa has greatly enhanced my life. i do take 3 pramipexole a day,but aside from that i am worry free about taking park's meds. because the meds go straight to my intestine--i don't have too worry about the meds interfering with my protein intake. it has made my park's level out and if i should need an adjustment during the day--i can push a button for an extra dose or change my continuous flow up or down, it has been about 6 months since i had my procedure and i can honestly highly recommend Duopo. Last night i attended my Granddaughter's cello solo at the Kennedy Center in washington dc. Before Duopa I would have stayed home because of the uncertainty of my on and off times and dyskinesia. For me Duopa has greatly improved my quality of life. check with your doctor for more info.
i sew dresses for little girls who live in the appalachian mountains of kentucky & virginia. i also like to make santas, snowmen, & angels. when i'm well enough i go rv'ing with my husband. but mostly i stay home & sew.
