Does Anybody Else Have Extreme Nighttime Dystonia And What Do You Do To Alleviate The Symptoms?
Pain from muscle cramps and dystonia are common issues for people with Parkinson's. I can have this CONTINUOUSLY during the night from approx 23h00 right through 04h00. Any alcohol (particularly gin!) can make it worse but it can also happens after having been drinking NOTHING except water and black coffee for days It is EXTREMELY PAINFUL and I cannot sit still or lie down - I have to keep moving. . This is going to sound ridiculous but it might be worth a try. A friend of mine gets extreme cramps in her legs.....not related to Parkinson's ......and a friend of hers told her to swallow a mouthful of pickle juice. It doesn't matter what kind. It works for her in just a very short time. I couldn't believe it until I was with her when she had this type of cramping and in less than 5 minutes the cramp was gone. She says it works every time. 😊
When all else fails, I soak in a tub of very hot water with Epsom Salts. This will usually give me enough relief to fall asleep.
Try over the counter, Blue Emu, works for me. Also put on the bottom of my feet.
Singing is said to alleviate pain. Dancing also helps. I haven't looked into medical marijuana but may do so.
