Frozen Shoulder
I think I put this question somewhere else on the site and can't find it. Last year my right arm began hurting when I moved it a certain way. By midyear, it hurt if I moved it at all. After a series of steroid injections and 4 months of PT, my dr ordered an MRI. I have tears in the central and outer fibers of my supraspinatus tendon (which holds humerus up into shoulder). My husband has this problem. He will not do surgery but he is 76 years old and has had it a long time. He can only move his arm a little now. I think he is in more pain than he admits. He would not keep doing the exercises after therapy. His legs are strong. I think if he had kept with all physical therapy he would be in a better place but so fearful of falling that he spends most of his time in front of the TV.
Anyway, if you are fairly young and can move about well I would suggest you get the surgery. You will do so much better further down the road of this disease.
I had that the first year I was diagnosed. I used a device called the " Rotator reliever " you can order it online. It really works. You just have to make sure you use it every night as directed. I didn't use the brace though.
I had one done and it helped a lot. I could use my arm a little after a few weeks and it got back to full function. If you don't get it taken care of now it will only get worse because you aren't moving it. Atrophy can be reversed once you start moving it again. It will hurt for a little bit after surgery, just fyi.
Good Luck
I've had both shoulders replaced and though the pain is not completely gone it's 90 percent better then before surgery. Never play baseball again but then at 72 wasn't planning on it anyway. Don't expect over night miracle but with a little work thing get better.
I have had both my shoulders replaced over last 2yesrs was worth it .not 100% but doesn't hurt all the time. It was bone on bone! But still have hard time getting coat on.
