Get all the info.you can I asked the surgeon how many DBS he had done, also legal issues from patients, nobody drilled holes in my skull until I felt he was competent . It did eliminate freezing.
As everyone differs as to issues placement of electrodes in the brain all affect results.FOR ME NO PAIN AT ALLL, I'd go agin. Good luck

I feel like the DBS saved my life and my 2caregivers feel the same way. surgery in aug 2015 and still doing good.

I met a PD patient recently who had it done a few years ago and swears by it. Also, last year the National Geographic folks did a filmed interview of a PD patent while he was having DBS done. Pretty dramatic improvement. The interview is on-line.

Coming up on 5 year anniversary of DBS (target in STN) - had already decided to get DBS for Essential Tremor, my doctors then tried to rule out Parkinson's and determined finally that I showed all the clinical symptoms - DBS has been great for me ( along with other treatments in conjunction with DBS).

I have and it's been great. No more tremors or dyekenisia from taking all those pills.its been great for twelve years already and I would tell anybody to try and get it if you qualify.
