Choice Of The Right Medicare Policy For PWP
Hi, Although this is not a medical question, yet a very important one in my opinion. I have recently received my introductory medicare documents. While browsing the net for the process to select the right medicare policy for PWPs, I read that Medicare Advantage is not good for us because they don't have good support for certain treatments and care we will need. @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member . for medicines I am told to use Medicare Part D. I don't know if it has deductibles. Glad to know that your retirement benefit covered that. You too have a happy holiday.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member. I got a Supplemental policy (Supplement G) which picks up the difference after Medicare has paid its portion. It has a once a year deductible of $166 (2016 info). After that, my medical is paid 100% between them. Of course, that does not include prescriptions. I'm in Missouri.
Medicare has been heaven-sent compared to insurance I had prior to 65. It has paid in full so far.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member Just noticed your additional question, sorry. My supplemental (Part G) is through Colonial Penn. I spoke to one of their representatives in the St. Louis area during the Enrollment period when I turned 65. The prescriptions/pharmaceuticals are through Cigna.
