A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

My neck and shoulders seem to be very stiff and its hard to turn my head. As long as my head is kinda hanging down is doesnt hurt as bad as when my head is up. Any tips to relieve the pain? It hurts to sleep drive and do every day acrivities. Could this be a part of my dystonia or is this part of PD?

Nicolez, this is Dave. Good girl. You will be OK, just keep the stress down as much as possible. I played football and our coaches had us doing neck exercises and the muscles in my neck are still strong and that has been a, pardon the pun, a pain in the neck because the muscles are so tense that when my chiropractor can't even adjust it. And boy when he tries it hurt so bad. Now it's heat and some massage by a neck massage pillow that gives me some relief. God bless you and I will be praying for you.

ElizabethManlyCalavano, this is Dave responding. I have a portable tens unit. They are great!!!!!!!!!! However, be careful where you place the contacts on your neck. DO NOT place it on or near your juggler vein. Put the damp contact patches on the deltoid muscles only. If you put them on or near the veins you could have a stroke. If the neck pain is in the base of your skull you would be better putting a heat pad or ice on it to relieve the pain. This is information given to me by my doctor because I have had neck pain for years. I hope this helps you ease some of your pain. God bless you.

I have the same problem with my neck and the neurologist says it is probably arthritis. I wonder. I take quite a bit of ibuprofen and am quite discouraged by this and by the dizziness I have each and every day.
