Dementia Medications

A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭
Spring, TX

My husband has Lewy Body Dementia and is currently taking a generic Aricept. One of his neurologist's had recommended trying Nameda. Does anyone have any experience with this medication?

Thank you!

We heard from the neuro's nurse. She said I can continue the Immodium, drink lots of Gatorade, and use the BRAT diet=bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast. He is on meds for frequent urgent urination. I never expected to be putting such personal information on a public forum!

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member; there are medications that can be prescribed for the diarrhea and also for frequent urination, or the urge to urinate frequently.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member; yes! Same thing happening with my husband, plus the Carbidopa-Levadopa makes him nauseous. I hope to learn more about Namenda soon!

I would be interested in what you find out. My husband also has Lewy Body Dementia. It seems to be progressing pretty rapidly. He has an issue with diarrhea the past few weeks. Is anyone else dealing with this? Immodium is not stopping it. He is also on Aricept.
