Anybody Take Tyrosine Along With Their Prescribed Carbidopa Levodopa Prescription?
Hi @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member,
I'm wondering what dose of NAC you are taking? Just bought some for my husband, and I see that the dosages range from around 1200mg/day to a clinical trial that is using 6000mg/day! I'm also interested in knowing what people think about tyrosine.
Tyrosine is an amino acid that the body usually gets by eating protein rich foods. I saw an add on Facebook for a supplement that contained Tyrosine as well as other items and I asked my doctor about it's possible health benefits. He said I could save a lot of money by buying the supplement Tyrosine by itself as an over the counter supplement. I found it at the local GNC store and I'm trying a low daily dosage of 500mg. Some web sites suggest that it will counter react against taking Carbidopa Levodopa and recommended against it and one said it would be helpful for the body to produce dopamine. There's no definitive research saying it works in producing dopamine, but it's considered a precursor to the production of dopamine. Most web sites refer to Tyrosine as a mood enhancer. I was just looking for natural ways to enhance dopamine production in the brain, but i'm feeling less likely that I found one even though it was advertised that way.
I have never heard of tyrosine. Is it something new for
PD? I am very interested because most of the PD meds I am on, my body is becoming immune to them.

I take L-Tyrosine with NAC. I'm not on any 'dopas' yet. I noticed a reduction in my cramping with 3 doses a day.
