What Do You Use For Neck And Back Pain At Night?
My dr prescribed Tramadol it keeps me awake at night and makes me feel like crap in the morning. I
Thats interesting. I was on Tramadol and on the first visit to my neurologist,who specializes in PD, she said I was absolutely not to take it. I was prescribed hydrocodone by another provider and when I saw my neurologist she took me off that and said it made PD worse. I was told to do the exercises and yoga, because they thought the PD was causing all the pain. My back pain is persistent even with the exercise sand Yoga or Tai Chi that was recommended, so I'm going back to my neuro to see what I can take. My Back pain is unrelated to my PD, it may be that the PD is exacerbating it but it's not the primary cause. I'm sorry this doesnI this doesn't answer your question but I'll let you know what they do prescribe.
Try seeing a pain management specialist. In my pre PD days I had a very bad stiff neck, even the chiropractor wasn't helping, he referred me to ortho who sent me to phys therapy which still did not help. Went to a pain management specialist who said the exercises they had given me at PT were not harmful, but not what I needed. He gave me a set of basic stretching exercises using your hand to guide your head. He also suggested an antihistamine to help me sleep as he didn't want to prescribe a sleeping pill. It was about a week and it was almost normal after months of suffering.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member. The exercises the pain management dr gave me were basic chin to chest, chin to breast, ear to shoulder, chin to shoulder. For each exercise you use your hand to gently push your head in that direction until you feel the stretch. It gives you a little more stretch without injury. He also had me do an exaggerated shoulder shrug, emphasizing the down shrug as far as you can go(that one was without your hand). Very easy and since you control the movement you can adjust as necessary.
I have a small pillow with a little beads in it and it is the most comfortable thing to use and I find that I have no neck pain when using it so a little pillow makes a big difference
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member,
Depending on the problem causing me pain, I usually take extra magnesium citrate and calcium citrate to relax muscles.
