Has Anyone Had Big Loud Therapy And Did You Feel It Helped You With Your Voice And Etc And For How Long
Voice becomes softer and often person doesn't realize it but speech may be softer or not very clear
Another PD person told me to sing, shriek and yell as loud as I could when I am in the car alone.
It is a great feeling of release and keeps the vocal chords strong
I took the Big Loud therapy about 3 years ago. It helped a lot for the first year, then I started slipping back to speaking soft. Now my friends remind me to get with the program, and I start to talk in a much louder form.
Hi @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member. The BIG LOUD therapy is helpful and needs to be done early on, if possible. It can help improve the volume of a PD-softened voice and, more importantly, will help prevent choking and fluids draining into the lungs during later stages of PD. The program prevents downstream effects of PD that can be fatal, such as choking and pneumonia. I am trying to find the right program for my husband, as you need to choose carefully. Not all speech therapists are equal. Either way, please try it and see if it helps you. All the best to you.
That was one of the first things that my movement disorder specialist had be go through and it really helped me a lot.
