Boy, you girls have alot more energie than I do! I take a walk with my dogs every evening, to hot in daytime. But by then i'm tired by my day....keep up the good work ! I started having balance problems so it's a little funny to see me wake. But hey, so what i'm still walking!

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, you are 20 years older than I am and it sounds like you are doing well. Congratulations and VERY IMPRESSIVE to me -- I hope that I will be able to exercise like you do and feel like you do in 20 years (but don't recall how long it's since you first developed PD symptoms).

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, that is excellent advice. One needs to develop a habit so that it's automatic after a while. That's why I exercise every day. It's easier for me this way. If I said, "3 days a week" then I could always put off exercising until a different day. Every day. Every day. Do whatever you think you can do (and I always push hard, so I consistently advise adding 10% to that self-defined limit), and make it turn into a habit. It won't happen overnight, but it will happen, if you are committed to make it happen.

I have heard that walking is the very best thing you can do for PD.A mile is about the best I can do.Is it working for you?

Originally I saw an exercise physiologist who worked out a specific program of exercises and stretches as a daily routine for 45 minutes. I have incorporated this with walking (3 to 4 times a week) and recently I have began PD Warrior Classes which involve exercises particularly tailored for people with Parkisons to delay the progression of the disease by promoting strength, balance and flexibility with emphasis on neuroplasticity - the rewiring of the brain. Once learning a set of core exercises, you then embrace these as part of your daily routine to get optimal benefits... Since starting this program I am feeling more energised and have noticed slight improvements with my sleeping pattern. In the future I also hope to do a weekly class of Tai Chi for its health and wellbeing benefits!
