Has Anyone Heard Of The Drug Nilotinib?

A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question đź’
Juneau, AK

I heard about nilotinib through a Google search and wondered if anyone else has any facts or has discussed its use with their neurologist? It is my understanding, from the literature, it shows great promise at retarding and reversing some of the symptoms of late stage PD.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, Do you get newsletters from the Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF)? They came out with information on this very subject, nilotinib, just today. They are also having a question and answer webinar on this drug on Tues., August 2 @ 0800 (AK time)

Dora,

Good. My neurologist never heard of it either, but I feel it holds much promise as an effective medication to relieve some of the symptoms. The more of us that ask, the better. Spread the word.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, I had never heard of this drug until you mentioned it. So I googled 'nilotinib' and it does indeed look promising. I'll plan to mention it to my neurologist next month and let you know what he says. Hoping you're doing well and that you had a fun 4th of July!

Just heard about this drug. It's currently used for cancer patients. Sounds promising. There's also another drug (or supplement) called Inosine that's showing promise as well. It's in the phase III clinical trial. Inosine is sold OTC now and is relatively inexpensive. Just not sure what the proper dosage would be. I've read that nilotinib will be very expensive.
