Has Anyone Else Ever Felt Like Their Main Medication Is Not Working Like It Should?

I feel as though I don't get the benefits from the Sinement that I used to. Have only been on Sinement 50/200 CR since August of 2014. I take 1 dose basically every 3 hours from 6am-9pm. I also take Requip 3 times a day. I have tried other things with no success. I do work full-time still. I have lost my balance more as of lately. My tremors are very fine hardly even noticed. Muscle spasms are worse. Meds usually last about 1 1/2 hours… read more

Hey @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member

you take 6 - 50/200mg Sinemet, and I take 12 - 25/100mg which equals the exact same dosage... My Neurologist, that Specializes in Movement Disorders, has many patients taking +30 tabs of 25/100mg Sinemet... which converts to 15 - 50/200mg..... So it appears to me that your still on the medium to low dosage that has shown to provide a better Quality of Life.... The other thing you need to consider, is to ask them to prescribe Comtan 200mg, which along with the Sinemet extends the "on time"... Currently for me, I don't experience those "off times" because we were trying to achieve a therapeutic level at all times within my system.... Good luck, and I would definitely suggest seeing your Neurologist about adding Comtan and even increasing the Sinemet.... Talk soon, Alan

At last night's support group we had a presentation on APOKYN which is used during off time. I'm not at that point yet but the presenters stated there is a web site containing information.
Best of luck,
Bill

My movement specialist added encapatone 4 times a day. It has worked for the 9 months I have been taking it. I still have bad days but usually when I have gotten too tired or stressed.

Austin.... Everyone I 've ever met with PD, that used Sinemet 10/100 had a lot of bad side effects...

Sinemet is made is 2 ratios.... " 1 to 4 and 1 to 10 "

I and the vast majority that have experienced "really positive results" are all of the Gold standard of treatment with the (1 to 4 ration) - hence the Sinemet 25/100 mg... I hope for find better results, Alan

I will definitely bring it up to my doctor about trying to switch to regular Sinement. I actually started out on 10/100. Then when I went to Cleveland hospital the doctor there switched me to my current dosage. So I haven't had a change in dosage since October of 2014.
