Has Anyone With PD Had A Spinal Nerve Block?
for those who have asked about taking an mri...I've done it a couple of ways. Yes I've had pd but they need me awake so no meds...but usally I get a relaxer along with someone to talk to me ...why? I am a very serious claustrophobic patient...I got out of an open mri in a way they had never seen. At first the medical team thought "it was iin my head" but when they saw it engage in person, two folks who had been doing this for 20 + years, claimed they had never seen someone like me. I tell them drugs. I usually get them tol let me take liquid Benadryl as a starter.
Thanks Geri . I started asking the question and it disappeared before I had finished. (I didn't realise it had posted). The part of the question which didn't appear was to ask how people had dealt with their concerns regarding the possibility of making involuntary movements during the procedure. Following a bad experience in an mri scanner a few months ago when a severe dystonic episode left me with a partially torn tendon in my other knee , I became very nervous about the damage that such an episode could cause with a needle in or approaching my spine. I am pleased to say that I had the spinal yesterday and a hefty boost of apomorphine and being permitted to keep my pump on throughout the procedure kept my symptoms suppressed.
I have had shot in my spine, nerve block when I had knee replacement, and a total of 3 back fusion surgeries, the last one was 9 vertebra with two 12 inch rods. All went well, have complications from the last surgery.
