How Many Take The Drug Azilect? What Dose? .5 Or 1.0mg? And How Do You Afford It? Does It Help With Symptoms And Progression?
Hi @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, definitely get the coupon mentioned above. It really knocks the price down! I actually like Azilect, no side effects other than some drowsiness and it's the only drug so far that may slow the progress of Parkinson's.
Since I added 1 mg of azilect to my 4 sinemets daily (about a year ago) I feel much better. More mobile and less shaky. With my insurance I pay $50 for a 90 day supply.
Azilect was the only med I took for the first two years of my diagnosis. I had no side effects and it worked quite well on its own for that time. Now I'm taking both Azilect and Mirapex. My MDS gives me co-pay discount coupons from the makers of Azilect so that I only pay $10 per fill. Otherwise, it would be difficult for me to afford since my insurance has it in a high classification.
You can go to azilect.com and they have several different coupons that can offer you a significant savings.
I have been taking azilect for about three years. It was the only PD drug I took for about 2 years. For me, It helped remove symptoms and did not have side effects. There is research that it may delay PD progression, but that isn't something I would be able to verify. I use a coupon provided by Teva, the drug company, at CVS. it works for me to save about $40/month.
