Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS)
How long does the implant last ?
No he has not. We live in Illinois and his doctors are at the University of Iowa. We have heard of him, and my husband is a graduate of The Ohio State University, but it is a long drive for a doctors appointment. Would you suggest we look into it to see if there is something they could do to correct it.
My husband had DBS two years ago. It has done nothing for him but make him worse. Has tremors he never had before, can no longer walk, and takes as much medication or more than before he had it. He's had PD for 16 years so they say it is just the progression of the disease. So disappointed in the devise after going through that surgery.
Absolutely, he is a miracle worker.
Has your husband consulted with Dr Ali Rezai from the Ohio State University. He has performed over 2100 surgeries changed my life over 16 years ago .
Going to see his neurologist on Friday at U of I in Iowa City. Sure wish my husband's DBS worked as well as yours. Don't know what is going on with him this week. His walking, even the little he did is non existant the past 3 or 4 days. He sits with his eyes closed most of the time, not necessarily sleeping. I talked to his ophthalmologist about that yesterday, he already takes a prescription for irritation and an ointment at bed time. Thank you for your info and kind words.
