Dr. Sarah O’Shea is an assistant professor of neurology at Boston University School of Medicine and a board-certified neurologist. She obtained an undergraduate degree in biological sciences at Northwestern University and a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Illinois Chicago. She completed her residency training at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, where she also served as chief resident. She completed a three-year fellowship in movement disorders at Columbia University Irving Medical Center/New York-Presbyterian Hospital. During her fellowship training, she also completed the neuroepidemiology training program at Columbia University and obtained her master’s degree in epidemiology.

Dr. O’Shea specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of individuals who have Parkinson’s disease, atypical Parkinsonism, tremor, Huntington’s disease, dystonia, and other movement disorders. She is experienced in deep brain stimulation (DBS) for movement disorders and also serves as the associate director of the deep brain stimulation program. She is skilled in the use of botulinum toxin injections for treatment of movement disorders and post-stroke spasticity. Dr. O’Shea’s primary research interests include studying the epidemiology of Parkinson’s disease. She also serves as an investigator for Parkinson’s disease and deep brain stimulation clinical trials.
