Try rubbing CBD salve on your legs then put some bio freeze on it! It's the only way I can get to sleep!

Nigel gives you very good advice. It is also quite comprehensive. I would add one thing. “Hylands Leg Cramps”. They sell it at Walmart. It’s in little red bottle. It work like a charm for me and it’s cheap.

I would also like to reinforce hydration. If I don’t get at least 64 ounces of water a day I get cramps.

I get this myself so I feel your pain (literally).

Let's cover the basics...first, movement...when you do NOT have cramp, are you still sitting down, or can you get around? Do you do regular stretching, or just try stretching when you have the cramp? Could you get an exercise bicycle, or if not one of those small sets of pedals you can use from an armchair.

Do you drink enough water during the day? What is your diet like? Magnesium supplements; have you tried any?

Old wives tales like apple cider vinegar (no offence meant, some swear by it, including top level athletes trying to deal with THEIR cramp)!

Bovril! Beef stock drink, don't know if it's available outside the UK. A half pint mug full seems to help me (tasty too!).

Persevere with the positions. I get it a lot in my left foot...but I feel like that's just where the cramp "is"...it feels like it stems from the back of my left thigh...and oddly doing anything with my hands (writing, typing, DIY (using a screwdriver etc) playing games on my Xbox and yes even holding my phone to talk or text) seems to "trigger" it; as does any level of stress or anxiety - even when I know I'm "sweating the small sh!t".

It makes me draw my left leg up like a lame dog. Ridiculously, the only comfort I get is to steady myself on a solid surface (a table, wall or back of the sofa), lift my left knee, and kick my lower leg out like a some sort of (very bad) can-can dancer.

It gives me relief for a while, but the cramp will return if I put my weight on it again too soon.

Lastly - pills. Ask your doctor about these. They're all supposed to help with muscle spasms, cramp, rigidity and tension.

Baclofen is a muscle relaxant, but can make things worse for some.

Clonazepam is reported by some to reduce tension aid sleep and lower anxiety.

Quinine gets used for restless legs (some suggest tonic water, but the levels are so low compared to tablets prescribed that you'd need to drink about 5 litres to get the same level of quinine)

L-Dopa...Ropinirole...rasagiline....all the "normal" Parkinson's drugs...if you are on them, when did you last have a medication review? You might need an increase...though in the UK at least they are very reluctant to increase L-DOPA beyond 800mg a day.

Good luck!
