Can Someone Live By Themselves With PD?
I am 65 and diagnosed two years ago. My wife and boys don't know I exist and I am considering living by myself but worry that it may be too difficult... Those that do live by themselves, what stage are they in and what can we expect?
Same here, just spent a week in the hospital from falling down. Wife was out and I laid on the tile floor bleeding, drooling and gasping for air for what appeared to be about 45 minutes before the ambulance arrived, moved me to local hospital for stabilization and then transferred me on to Louisville V.A. for a week of intensive care in the cardiac & pulmonary ward.
Does it mean I can't live alone, absolutely not, I was suffering from long covid Pneumonia, wheezing with fluid filled lungs in and around my heart and running out of oxygen while coughing and passing out. I had a partially collapsed lung that exacerbated the issue.
I had just had 3 heart stents installed the week before and probably pushed myself a little too hard.
It's more of a reminder that I'm older and not quite as strong as I think.
I have been living alone with Parkinson's Disease Since 2019, was diagnosed in 2016. I have a lot of paid help with laundry, grass cutting, house cleaning, but this is all new. I am still working at age 70 so I need help with the other stuff.
I am just switching to STALEVO for my issues. I will let everyone know how that goes in subsequent posts. I have balance and gait issues, but I take long (4km) walks with my Nordic poles.
I have been found lying on the floor out cold and bleeding. This occurred when my wife went out to perform an errand.
Iām in stage 1.
Yes, maybe, no? Depends on far too many factors.
