Educate yourself, stay connected with your friends and family if you can. Go on Zoom calls etc. and listen to others about their experiences. And it you want to slow the progress of our disease...EXERCISE. There are dozens of exercise classes online for PwP's. But I highly recommend finding an exercise class somewhere 'live' so you can associate with others. You need to associate with others also.

Deadinbed, Thanks for the question. I am widowed, my daughter works 6 days a week and I live in a rural area so I spend 90% of my time alone. This contributed to my depression and anxiety but after pulling out the whole, I realized I'm not alone in love and spirit.
I believe God is with me, I just have to welcome Him and not stay angry at my current situation.
I had to find my purpose. I'm still working on that but find ways every day to improve my PD symptoms. This includes taking exercise classes on line, learning new Mediterranean based recipes and learning ways to improve my gut health which helps my PD symptoms.
My local library delivers books to my home and reading has exercised my brain and made reading more enjoyable again.
I talk with you all on this site. This includes doing medical research for questions asked by my team members.
I am a PD Buddy with MJF Foundation and a 'friend' for folks through Humana and local volunteer agencies. This allows me to call others about 1 time per week so neither they or I feel alone. I have made some wonderful friends through these programs.
I stay connected with friends by phone and grandchildren by Zoom.
This is not how I thought I would spend my retirement. But once I realized God was not ready to take me home. I rolled up my sleeves and started working om making each day better.
This is my new normal and I am no longer alone.
You are not alone either. You have a whole team right here my friend.

Maria, this is well written, full of examples of ways to be involved w/ others that need help, how important socializing is, & making the choice to change the things we can & learn new ways to live a life with a purpose. We can learn to see others that have no one in their lives & become that caring & supportive person to enable them to feel that they are of value. I had no idea that libraries deliver books to your home. If you are physically unable to do that in person, you can call & regularly visit them by phone. I am Catholic and we have a ministry for the home bound who enjoy someone coming to visit. If you can make a phone call to the church or churches & tell them your situation & ask if they could give you the name & phone number of someone you could visit with by phone on a regular basis. So many have no one at all & feel alone in this world. You could brighten that person’s life.

Your TV and Radio will keep you company.
Get on a tablet or cell phone and read about PD.
What people says. About it..
Very interesting.
Blessings to you

Some of the organizations and health care plans have buddy and friend programs in place where they can phone or visit in person or on line. Humana has a friend program for its members and MJFF has a buddy program where you can get to know other members and call each other on an on-going basis.
Please check that out and dig deep to remember how you like to spend your time, listening to music, watching TV, writing, reading (remember there are books on tape or audio tapes, there are solo card games and puzzles and word games. Try to do just a little bit, including some safe stretching and flexing and tell us all about it.
We are with you on this journey but only you can make the decision to make changes and join us.
I hope you will,
Maria
